Pest Control Costs in Cambridge, Ontario (2026)
Planning ranges for pest control work in Cambridge and the townships in 2026, and a straight account of what pushes a quote up or down. These are planning figures, not a price list. Every job is quoted in writing after an inspection.
Pest control is priced by the pest, the building, how far along the problem is, and how many visits it will take to end it. A wasp nest under a Preston soffit is a single visit. Mice in a Galt century home on rubble stone is an inspection, a sealing job and a baiting program with a follow-up. A carpenter ant colony in a Hespeler sill is a nest treatment plus the carpentry that has to follow. A restaurant on Hespeler Road is a monthly program with documentation. So the useful question is not what pest control costs in Cambridge. It is which version of the job you have.
- One-visit jobs. An exposed wasp nest, a single perimeter treatment, a straightforward pavement ant problem with a clear source.
- Programs. Mice, rats, bed bugs, carpenter ants, cockroaches: an initial treatment plus one or more scheduled follow-ups, because the eggs hatch and the sealing has to be checked.
- Multi-unit jobs. Bed bugs or cockroaches in a building where the adjoining units have to be inspected and often treated.
- Commercial programs. Scheduled, documented service for a restaurant, plant, hotel or warehouse, priced monthly.
- Seasonal arrangements. A September rodent program on the farm edge, a spring and summer perimeter on a damp riverside lot.
Cambridge and township planning ranges
Planning ranges only โ not quotes, not fixed prices. They exclude HST, assume a typical house, unit or premises in reasonable condition, and assume normal access. Your written plan replaces all of this.
| Job | Planning range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Inspection and written plan | $0 - $150 | Often credited against the treatment if you go ahead |
| Mice โ inspection, baiting program and follow-up | $250 - $500 | Typical house; stations, traps and one follow-up visit |
| Rodent exclusion sealing โ block or poured foundation | $300 - $700 | Mesh, metal and sealant at a handful of entry points |
| Rodent exclusion sealing โ rubble-stone foundation | $600 - $1,500 | Galt and Blair century homes; masonry repair by a mason is separate |
| Rats โ program with exterior stations and follow-ups | $400 - $900 | Burrows and food source must be addressed |
| Farm-edge fall rodent program โ house and outbuildings | $400 - $1,000 per season | Ayr, Blair, Branchton, last row of a subdivision; September start |
| Bed bugs โ residual treatment, one unit, 2-3 visits | $500 - $1,200 | One-bedroom to typical house; clutter and preparation move it |
| Bed bugs โ heat treatment, one unit or hotel room | $1,200 - $3,000 | Single long day, monitored; larger houses higher |
| Bed bugs โ additional adjoining units | $300 - $800 per unit | Inspection included; treated only where active |
| Carpenter ants โ nest treatment and follow-up | $350 - $700 | Moisture and wood repair by a carpenter is separate |
| Pavement or indoor ants โ bait and exterior treatment | $200 - $400 | Follow-up if the trail continues |
| Wasp, yellowjacket or hornet nest โ exposed or soffit | $150 - $300 | Single visit; additional nests on the same visit are less each |
| Wasp nest in a wall void or in the ground | $200 - $400 | Harder access; entrance sealed after the colony is dead |
| Earwig and ant perimeter treatment โ single | $175 - $350 | Exterior foundation, doors, windows; riverside lots often want two |
| Restaurant or bar monthly program | $90 - $250 per month | Scheduled inspection, mapped stations, service reports; size and history move it |
| Food plant or audited facility program | $250 - $800 per month | Documented IPM plan, trend reports, light traps, perimeter stations |
| Apartment building standing arrangement | $75 - $200 per month | Scheduled inspections; unit treatments quoted as needed |
These figures are for planning in 2026. They are not binding, and nobody should give you a firm price for a pest problem without seeing it.
What pushes a Cambridge pest control quote up
The foundation. The biggest factor for rodents in this city. Sealing a poured wall with three gaps in Preston is a short job. Sealing a rubble-stone foundation in Galt or Blair with a century and a half of opened joints is a long one, and some of it may need a mason.
How long it has been going on. The biggest factor for bed bugs, cockroaches and carpenter ants. A few insects caught early is one or two visits. A unit ignored for six months, or a carpenter ant colony that has been in a sill for years, is more.
Multi-unit buildings. Bed bugs and cockroaches travel between units in the older downtown buildings and the apartments above the shops. The adjoining units have to be inspected and often treated. Treating one unit alone is cheaper on paper and more expensive over a year.
The farm edge. Properties toward Ayr, Blair and Branchton, farms with a barn and feed beside the house, and the last row of a subdivision backing onto a field get heavier rodent pressure and need more sealing, more stations and often the outbuildings included. Travel is built in up front.
Audit requirements. A food plant under a third-party audit scheme needs a documented IPM plan, trend reporting, light traps and more frequent visits than a restaurant. The program is priced to the standard, not to a generic contract.
Access. A hornet nest high in a Blair maple, a wasp nest behind a third-storey cornice in Galt, a crawlspace with no lighting. Height and access add time and equipment.
A moisture problem nobody has fixed. Carpenter ants and earwigs return to wet wood and damp foundations. The treatment is priced honestly; the leaking porch roof is a separate job.
What brings a quote down
Calling early. Two bed bugs in a mattress seam is a very different job from a unit with them in the outlets. A carpenter ant colony found in its first season is a smaller job than one that has hollowed out a sill.
Doing the sealing. Rodent exclusion costs more than bait on the first visit and far less than bait every October for ten years.
Preparing the unit properly and not spraying first. Over-the-counter sprays scatter bed bugs and cockroaches and split ant colonies. A prepared, unsprayed unit is faster to treat.
Seasonal timing. A rodent program in September, a perimeter in June, a wasp nest in July rather than September. Working with the calendar means fewer visits.
Setting up the commercial program before the problem. A restaurant with a program running pays a monthly rate. A restaurant calling the week after an inspection finding pays for the emergency and then the program.
How to compare pest control quotes
- Was there an inspection? A phone quote for bed bugs, mice or carpenter ants, without seeing the building, is a guess.
- Is the pest identified? Carpenter ants, not "ants". Yellowjackets, not "bees". The treatment depends on it.
- Are the follow-up visits included and scheduled?
- Is the sealing part of the mouse job, and is it priced for your foundation?
- For a business: what documentation is left after each visit?
- Which products, and are they permitted for the use? Ask.
- Can the technician show an Ontario exterminator licence? Pest control is a licensed trade; the Ontario government's pesticides page explains it.
- Is there a written re-treatment policy?
- Proof of liability insurance and WSIB coverage. Ask everyone, including us.
Consumer Protection Ontario explains what a written service agreement should contain. For tenants and landlords, the Landlord and Tenant Board is the official source on who is responsible for pest treatment in a rental. Food premises are inspected by Region of Waterloo Public Health, and property standards complaints inside the city go through the City of Cambridge.
Frequently asked questions
What does it cost to get rid of mice in Cambridge?
As a planning range, an inspection, baiting program and follow-up for a typical house is often in the $250 to $500 range, with exclusion sealing on top of that. On a block or poured foundation in Preston or a newer subdivision the sealing is a few hundred dollars; on a Galt or Blair rubble-stone foundation it is more, and some of it may need a mason. Sealing costs more on day one and far less than bait every fall.
What does bed bug treatment cost?
As a planning range, a residual treatment of a single unit over two or three visits commonly lands somewhere around $500 to $1,200, and a heat treatment of a single unit or hotel room above that. In an apartment building the adjoining units add to it. How long it has been going on and how well the unit can be prepared move the number most. None of these are quotes.
What does carpenter ant treatment cost?
As a planning range, finding and treating a carpenter ant colony with a follow-up is often in the $350 to $700 range. What is not in that number is the carpentry: the rotted sill, the porch post, the downspout extension. That is a separate trade and you are told what it involves. A colony caught in its first season is a smaller job than one that has been in a Hespeler sill for years.
What does a restaurant pest control program cost?
As a planning range, a monthly program for a restaurant or bar in Cambridge is often in the $90 to $250 per month range depending on size, age of the building and history; a food plant under audit is higher because the documentation and visit frequency are higher. The first inspection sets the frequency and the price, and the program is written to what the premises actually needs.
Do these ranges include HST?
No. Nor do they include repairs by other trades โ a mason for loose stone, a carpenter for a rotted sill or porch post, a handyman to screen the soffit vents. Your written plan lists what is included and shows tax separately.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can tell you which kind of job you are describing and which planning range it probably falls in. We will not give a firm price for mice, bed bugs, carpenter ants or a commercial program without an inspection, because the foundation, how far along the problem is and where the pests are getting in cannot be seen over the phone.
Price ranges above are typical Waterloo Region figures for 2026 and are provided for planning only. Every job is quoted in writing after a site visit. Last updated September 25, 2026.
